Larry Michael "Mike" Lasseter (Hawk), 73
With heavy hearts, yet full of gratitude for a life well-lived and faith fulfilled; we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, and PawPaw: Larry Michael "Mike" Lasseter (Hawk) of Lake Wales, who passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at the age of 73, at his residence surrounded by loved ones. Mike was born November 7, 1951, in Lake Wales to the late LT and Evie Lasseter. He was a man whose love for his family, unwavering dedication, and warm spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Mike lived life with passion and a heart full of love. His pride and joy were his family. As a husband and father, he embodied strength, kindness, and dependability. His greatest joy was being PawPaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which was held close to his heart. His laughter, wisdom, and kind spirit will continue to live on in his family for generations to come.
Known to many as Hawk, Mike, a man of great character, had an easy way about him that made everyone feel like a friend. His warm smile and genuine interest in others made him someone you could rely on. His presence with his infectious smile could light up any room, and his sharp sense of humor left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him, making him a beloved figure in the community.
Mike's service to his community as a retired firefighter and EMT with the City of Lake Wales was a testament to his dedication. For many years, he answered the call to help others in their times of need, and his courage, compassion, and commitment left a lasting impact on the community he served.
As a devoted member of Impact Church of Lake Wales, Mike's faith played a central role in his life. His love for God was evident in everything he did, and he was a constant source of encouragement to those around him. Whether through his singing of hymns (A passion that brought him peace and comfort; his voice, full of warmth and devotion, will be remembered by all who had the privilege to hear it.) or his kind acts, Mike's faith touched the lives of many.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who loved the freedom of the open road. Whether it was a scenic ride with friends or a solo journey to clear his mind, the hum of his motorcycle was a constant reminder of his adventurous spirit. His laughter, wisdom, and kindness will be sorely missed, but his spirit will forever remain with us.
Larry Michael "Mike" Lasseter (Hawk) is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Brenda, his children: Kami Schulze (Troy), Shelley Batson (Robby), and Micah Lasseter (Eddy); his grandchildren: Kaylee Morgan (Austin), Terry Schulze (Brianna), Cole Batson, Isaiah Batson and Ambrey Batson; and his great-grandchildren: Karver, Ezra, Aylah, Reagan and Presleigh as well as many other family members and friends who were touched by his love and friendship. He was predeceased by his parents: LT Lasseter and Evie Knowles Lasseter; brothers: Tommy and Bill Lasseter; and sisters: Margie Fulghum, Francis Duncan, and Catherine Newell.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Mr. Troy Schulze officiating.
We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, and we will carry his love, strength, and wisdom with us always. His memory will forever be a part of our hearts.
