Funeral services for Larry Michael Matlock, 75, of Anadarko, Oklahoma will be August 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Anadarko, Oklahoma with Rev. Daniel Edwards officiating. Interment will take place at Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, Oklahoma. Larry went to his heavenly home, August 2, 2025, with family by his side. He was born June 23, 1950, in Anadarko to Walter and Helen "Louise" Matlock. He married the love of his life, Sharon Kay Matlock (Madison), on March 10, 1971, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971, serving two years in Vietnam. Larry spent almost his entire life in Anadarko. He worked for various places, including Grady County Barn, Flintco, and retired from Oklahoma Turnpike Authority in 2014. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to delegate projects to his son-in-law, Jack Pilgrim, and his grandsons, Jordan Pilgrim, Justin Wells, and Corey Cheek. His favorite quote was, "I hate to tell ya, but I've got another project for y'all when you're ready". Survivors include his wife, Sharon, at the home. Three children were born to this union, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Billie Matlock of Grove City, Pennsylvania, daughter and son-in-law Julie and Paul Bennett of Norman, Oklahoma, daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Jack Pilgrim III of Elgin, Oklahoma. Larry is survived by one brother, Ronnie Matlock, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, and one sister, Kay (Bobbie), Bilyeu of Dibble, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Kaiya Carter, Jamie Cheek (Justin) Wells, Corey Cheek, Lacey (Kyle) Walbrick, Mila (Brandon) Zaicek, Jordan (Kerissa) Pilgrim, Emily Theesen, Britney Matlock, Caden Matlock, and Ella Kocher. Larry was blessed with 14 great grandchildren, Taylea Cheek, Haygan Cheek, Kase Wells, Bracyn Wells, Braxton Wells, Kynslei Wells, Grace Walbrick, MaKenna Walbrick, Cienna Walbrick, Athena Pilgrim, Ailish Carter, Aivley Theesen, Kaisley Theesen, and Hadley Theesen. Larry leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dewayne Matlock, and beloved sister-in-law, Mary Matlock. The family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Ludwell Chiropractor in Chickasha, Oklahoma for their consistent care and kindness, to Natalie Nunez with the Southwest Cancer Center in Lawton, Oklahoma for her unwavering compassion and dedication, and to the entire team at Choice Hospice for their gentle support and comfort during our loved one's final days. Each of you played a meaningful role in this journey, and your presence brought peace and strength when it was needed most. We are forever grateful.
