Larry McClenney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Doak-Howell Funeral Home on Feb. 2, 2026.
Funeral services for Larry Ray McClenney, age 71, of Flat Creek, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Doak Howell Funeral Home with Brother Tyler Shoemaker and Jimmy Gray will officiating. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery. Mr. Larry passed from this life on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by his family. Visitation will take place prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Larry was the son of the late Frank McClenney and Sue McClenney. He was a devoted husband for 33 years to his beloved wife, Becky McClenney, who survives him. He was a member of Flat Creek Church of Christ and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Larry retired in 2020 after 42 years of service as a production mechanic with Albea (American Can).

An avid outdoorsman, Larry loved hunting, fishing, and working on the farm. After his father's passing in 1988, he faithfully continued raising cattle and caring for the animals with unwavering dedication. He embraced retirement wholeheartedly and enjoyed the peace and simplicity of a slower-paced life.

Above all, Larry's greatest devotion was to his family. He loved being a husband, father, and grandfather, and he rarely missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren. Whether it was a ballgame, school program, or any event they were part of, Larry was always there-smiling, cheering, and proud beyond words. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people he loved, often gathered around the table sharing food, laughter, and stories.

In addition to his wife and mother, Larry is survived by his children, Lauren (David) Garland and Lance (Taressa) Wright; grandchildren Kaiden Garland (Cayde Fitzgerald), Mason Wright, Brylee Garland, and Madox Wright; and great-granddaughter Laynie Rae Fitzgerald. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry (Christie) McClenney and Randy McClenney, nephew Jason (Casey) McClenney and nieces Amanda (Kevin) Brothen and Melissa (Brandon) Harris.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank McClenney, nephew, Daniel McClenney, and niece, Amy McClenney.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://woundedwarriorproject.org), honoring Larry's generous spirit and his appreciation for those who serve.
