Larry Leroy Miles, 88, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Greenville, Texas. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, Larry lived a life marked by service, dedication, and quiet joys.

Born on February 11, 1937, in Portland, Oregon, Larry was raised in the city that shaped his early years. From a young age, he exhibited the traits that would define his life-intelligence, meticulousness, and a strong sense of order. These qualities served him well throughout his distinguished 30-year career in the United States Air Force. Rising through the ranks to become a Chief, Larry dedicated himself fully to his country with honor and integrity. While in the Air Force, Larry enjoyed the team camaraderie and participated in many sports, such as baseball, basketball, and football.

In November of 1975, Larry married Marie Miles at the Chapel at Randolph Air Force Base. Their union marked the beginning of a partnership that would span five decades. Together they built a life grounded in mutual respect and shared values. Their marriage of 50 years stands as a testament to enduring love and commitment.

Larry was the proud father of four children: sons Scott Alan Miles and Sean Gerard Miles; and daughters Debra Kaye Miles and Iris Suzanne McHargue. He also cherished his role as grandfather to Miles, Cheyenne, Kimberly, Kristen, Sarah, Liam, and Kylie; and great-grandfather to Adam, Andrew, Sophia and Liam Jr. His family brought him immense pride and joy throughout his life.

He is also remembered by his brother Patrick Miles. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Manley Miles and Corrine Dunnington Miles; his first wife Susan Petralli; and his brother Michael Miles.

Outside of his military service and family life, Larry found pleasure in simple pastimes that reflected his personality. He was known for enjoying his corn-cob pipe-a signature comfort-and treasured time spent with his late dog Wipers. A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he rarely missed a game. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing golf-a sport that suited both his precision and love for quiet focus.

Larry's legacy is one of discipline balanced with warmth-a man who served with distinction yet found joy in everyday rituals and moments with loved ones.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
