LARRY PERRY Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grant Funeral Services - Estill Springs on Dec. 14, 2025.
DAVID "LARRY" PERRY, departed this life at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital on Friday, December 12, 2025, at age 70, after a long illness, but now is at rest in the arms of his Lord and Savior. Mr. Perry was born in Sewanee, Tenn. on March 27, 1955, to the late Thomas Perry and Lorine Shockley Perry. He was last employed for approximately 35 years with Calsonic Yorozu as an Oil Specialist Supervisor before he had to take an early medical retirement. Mr. Perry enjoyed serving his community in his younger days by participating in the Shriner's paper sale. He was the Chief of the Auxiliary Police for Franklin County for years. Before he became disabled, he loved fishing, boating, gun and bow hunting, riding motorcycles, riding in toy runs, camping, riding his tractors on his "farm" and having fun with family and friends. He was a Christian and was proud to tell you he was a saved man. If he gave you a nickname, you were very special to him. He loved to tease people and laugh and joke around in a light-hearted way. If he needed anything and didn't have it, he would invent it such as a small tree cutting machine to use in his woods or the bicycle, he put a motor on when he was a little boy. As a young man he liked to restore old cars and trucks. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Perry, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wilma and Wayland Ray. Sisters; Mary Ann McCallie, Martha Sue Burks, nephew, Dennis Hasty, sisters-in-law; Tammy Click and Joyce Ray and brother-in-law, Roddy McCallie.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rita Ray Perry, daughter, Renae Sharpe and husband, Donald, granddaughters, Maddie and Mallory Cunningham, and grandson, Hunter Bragg. Brother, Paul Ronald Click, brother-in-law, Ricky Ray, nieces, Rhonda Scharer, Monica Bowen, Dana McCallie of Winchester, Yvette Burks, Dede Nader, Beth Burks of Ohio, Jill Gipson of Winchester, Dawn Parsons of Lewisburg, and Judy Dale Haviland of Ohio. Nephews, Paul Click of Winchester and Steven Click of Manchester, and Terry Leon Burks of Ohio.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services, LLC with Bro. Ray Gardner, officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until service time on Wednesday prior to the service.

Interment will follow services in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Inc. in Winchester, Tenn., with Eddie Scharer, Mike Atkins, Steven Click, Paul Click, Kendell Hoyle and Darrell Sisk serving as pallbearers.
