Larry Pitkin, age 70, passed away on January 10, 2026.
Larry was born in Azusa County, CA to William Pitkin and Darlene Pitkin.
He is survived by his son, Tyler Pitkin (Chelsea), grandson, Dresden Pitkin; brother, Steve Pitkin (Susan), and sisters, Leslie (Dan) Smith and Kim (Steve) Kaddas.
He was preceded in death by William Pitkin (Father), Darlene Pitkin (Mother), Gary Jones (Brother), Sher Ansell (Sister), & Lyndy Shores (Sister).
Larry spent many years working in construction in Utah, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he returned to school and completed training in microbiology, ultimately working as a microbiologist at the College of Southern Nevada-a career that reflected his determination, intelligence, and commitment to lifelong learning.
Larry was known for his steady presence, quiet strength, and the genuine care he showed to family and friends. He valued hard work, loyalty, and spending meaningful time with those closest to him. Those who knew Larry will remember his reliability, character, and the lasting impression he made through simple acts of kindness. He found passion in building things following a career in construction, specifically in carpentry. From benches, to dressers, to garage storage shelving, he always had an intuition of making things "better".
In his retirement, he found joy in simple things like tending to his plants, collecting and assembling jewelry, watching old western tv shows, and keeping close company with his dog Burt. His heart belonged to his family and he always carried them in the highest regards.
He will be deeply missed, and there will be a void left from his presence. In compliance with his wishes, no formal service will be held, but a gathering in a private setting will be arranged.
