Larry Gene Pittman was born on February 21, 1951, in Hampton, Georgia, to the late Arthur Will and Mattie Lou Pittman. He was educated in the Henry County School System and graduated from Westside High School in 1969. At the young age of 18, Larry began working at W.D. Lemon & Sons Funeral Home, where he continued faithfully until his passing. Over the years, he also held positions at Union Camp Corporation, Green's Package Store, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He later retired from the United States Postal Service after a long and dedicated career of service. Even after retirement, Larry continued working at Southern Crescent Technical College until his death. Larry's greatest love was his family. He cherished family gatherings, his wife's cooking, and traveling to watch his grandson, Keymari, play football. Affectionately known as "Wishbone," Larry was famous for his humor, his love of "talking trash," and the joy he brought to those around him, especially his nieces and nephews, who adored him. A devoted member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Larry served faithfully in many capacities. He was a member of the Male Chorus, Usher Board, Trustee Board, and Parking Lot Committee, and he led the Transportation Ministry until his passing. He was preceded in death by his brothers Willie Lewis and Arthur Lee; son-in-law David Livingston; father-in-law Adell McCord, Sr.; sister-in-law Barbara Dewberry; brothers-in-law Clifford Driver, Adell McCord, Jr., and Randolph Hayes; nephew Andretti P. Hayes; and niece Tawanna Pittman. Larry leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Batinia Pittman; daughter ShaKescia Livingston; son Chavez "Tay" Pittman (Candice); grandchildren Davin, Caleb, Kiara, Keymari, Akeilah, and Jordan; great-granddaughters Calei and Calea; and special daughter Shanika "Von." He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Stella McCord; siblings Harold (Georgia), Patricia, Rodgers (Cynthia), and Iris; sister-in-law Betty Pittman; in-laws Lorenzo (Gwendolyn), Annette, Anthony (Annell), Teresa (Marshall), Tyrone (Lisa), Ronnie (Palova), Alonzo (Hattie), John Dewberry, Sr., and Laura; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
