Larry D Poplin

Larry Dean Poplin, 74, of Hutchinson, died January 8, 2022, at Hospice House. He was born December 12, 1947, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Ethel (Stanka) Poplin.
Larry graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1966, and Hutchinson Community College in 1976. He was retired from building and bridge work for the Santa Fe Railroad. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorsports, and travel. He belonged to the Brotherhood of the Maintenance of the Way.
On May 29, 1970, Larry married Sandra L. Wasemiller, in Hutchinson. They shared 51 years together.
He is survived by: wife, Sandra Poplin, Hutchinson; mother-in-law, Norma Wasemiller, Lehigh; brother-in-law, Sidney Wasemiller, Lehigh; and many first and second cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrell Poplin.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Lehigh Township Cemetery, Lehigh, Kansas. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Masks will be required for all in attendance at the service and visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Council of Reno County or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
