Larry M Porter

Larry Milton Porter, 80, passed away on February 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Joseph and Kathleen Porter, Larry grew up in Savannah, Georgia. A proud graduate of Georgia Tech, he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering before serving his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he began a long and distinguished career with Georgia Power, ultimately retiring from Savannah Electric as Vice President of Operations.

Larry loved to travel, play golf, poker, and faithfully cheer on his beloved Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. His wit, warmth, and friendly smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his brother, J.W. Porter. Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Betty; his daughters, Karen (Ben Davis) and Lesli (Jim Shelly); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
