Larry Allan Pratt was born on May 30, 1949, in Heron Lake, Minnesota. He was the son of Harry and Esther (Haberman) Pratt. Larry was baptized as an infant in the Methodist Church and was later confirmed in his youth in Heron Lake. He attended school there as well and graduated high school with the class of 1967 before continuing his education at a vocational school in the Twin Cities. Not long after, at a dance, Larry met Ms. Nancy Mau.
Larry and Nancy were united in marriage on August 21, 1971, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, Minnesota. The couple made their home primarily in Windom, Minnesota, before moving to Marshall in 1986. Larry worked in the circulation department for the Marshall Independent newspaper and for Superior Truss in Minneota. He later did maintenance at the RC Square Apartments prior to his retirement in 1992, which was forced early due to health concerns.
Larry was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall where he served as custodian for a time. He was constantly mindful of others, helping those in need, and genuinely asked how their day was going. He noticed and appreciated the kindness of other people and had a sentimental soul. Larry loved gardening, watching the Twins and going to the public library to check out the latest Stuart Woods mystery book. He was known to be a storyteller, had a great sense of humor, loved the practical joke, and compiled quite a list of sayings that he was fondly known for repeating. But above all, his faith guided his life and kept him strong through periods of trial and suffering.
Larry Pratt died on October 20, 2025, in Marshall, Minnesota. He reached the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 20 days. Blessed be his memory.
