Carolyn Abbott Pratt passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025.
She was born on April 20, 1934 to Harris and Helen Pratt in Concord, New Hampshire. Carolyn was an only child. She graduated from Concord High School in 1952.
She met her husband, Gary Edward Pratt, in 1954 and fell in love. They were married one year later, on June 18, 1955. Shortly after they were married, Gary was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, and they resided there for three years. During their time in Germany, their daughter, Theresa Diane Pratt, was born. After returning to the United States, they lived in Fort Stewart, Georgia, and later at Homestead Air Force Base. Homestead, Florida, soon became home.
Carolyn loved the church and devoted much of her life to her faith and music. She was a gifted piano teacher who shared her love of music with many students at St. John's Episcopal School over the years. She also served as organist and choir director at St. John's Episcopal Church of Homestead, Florida, for over fifty years, inspiring generations with her talent and dedication.
Carolyn loved spending time with her family, especially with her great-granddaughters. She enjoyed watching their sporting events, their dance recitals, reading with them, teaching them how to play piano, and their many trips to the ocean when they came to visit in Florida. Carolyn loved to go fishing for crappies every summer she was up to visit Minnesota.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Theresa Diane Henderson; son-in-law, William Henderson; granddaughter, Laura Henderson; and great-granddaughters, Kenley, Korbyn, and Emerson.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Edward Pratt, and her parents, Harris and Helen Pratt.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Calvary Lutheran Music Fund.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with visitation for 1 hour prior to the service.
