Larry Robert Reed, age 75, of Lancaster, met his Heavenly family on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. He was born on April 16, 1949, in Lancaster, the son of Wilbert R. and Lucille G. “Lue” (Nicholson) Reed. Larry attended Pine Knob School, Winskill Elementary School and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1967. In high school, Larry was a wrestler, football player and a member of the FFA. After high school, he was employed on the Larry Pluemer farm and worked for a fencing company near Milwaukee. Larry was starting work with a tree cutting service company when he had a car accident in September of 1968 that left him in a coma for six months. When he returned home, his sister Linda was his caretaker. He lived at home with his parents until 2016 when he went to Orchard Manor, which became his second home. Larry loved hunting, fishing, trapping, his Harley, 1957 Chevy and fast cars. He had a great sense of humor and accomplished all obstacles with pride and a stubborn streak. Larry will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his sister, Linda; nephews: Jason and Michael (Jeni) Reed; niece, Becki (Eric) Kiesau; great nephew, Thomas Kiesau; great nieces: Kelsey and Lexi Kiesau, Mariah and Marissa Reed; several cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dennis Reed; step uncle, Leroy (Evelyn) Honerbaum; aunts and uncles: Sylvia (Dick) Richards, Almina (Earl) Walker, Berdetta Reed, Leonard (Lois) Reed.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. The burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
