Larry Saevre Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorgen-McGinley & Ayers Funeral Home on Dec. 7, 2025.
Dodgeville – Larry Quinn Saevre, age 73, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at his home. Larry fought a brave, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 24, 1952 in Janesville to the late Donald and Phyllis (Schrader) Saevre. Larry graduated from Craig High School in 1970. Following high school he spent the next 41 years working for Wisconsin Power & Light. In 1986, he married the love of his life, June (Garthwait) Saevre. Together they shared a country life full of love and happiness.

Larry was a man of few words. His back was strong and he was always willing to lend a hand. His heart and soul were gentle and kind. He not only possessed amazing grit, but will be remembered for his quick wit, jolly laugh and the mischievous grin under his signature beard. His remarkable strength, good humor and twinkly blue eyes will always be remembered. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending time on the lake fishing with Big Daddy, hunting for the 30 Pointer, and taking his dog, BOSS, for long walks at The Farm.

Larry is survived by his children; Jason Saevre and Chelsey (Shawn) Saevre; his step daughters Jessica (David) Kite and Jennifer (Steve) Turkington; his grandchildren Brock Turkington, Meg Turkington, Luke Turkington and Harry Kite; his brother Dean (Maryann) Saevre; several nieces and nephews. An extra special neighbor on "The Hill"; Josh Watkins. And of course, his beloved dog, BOSS.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, June (Garthwait) Saevre; a special uncle, Richard Saevre and special sister-in-law, Sharon Hahn.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Pastor Renee Thomas will officiate. Burial will be held in Otter Creek Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.

In lieu of flowers, Larry's family asks that donations be made in his name to Iowa County Cancer Coalition.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Bruce and her team at the UW Carbone Cancer Center for taking care of Larry during his time of need.
