Larry L. Selby, 67, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025. He was born October 29, 1958, the son of Lyman and Darlene Wetzel Selby in Topeka.
Larry was raised in Topeka, growing up he was a member of Central Church of Christ and Boy Scout Troop #1. Larry attended State Street Grade School and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1976. Larry also attended Kaw Area Vocational Technical School where he earned a certificate in Basic Electricity. While in high school he was a band member, playing the cornet. He loved working on classic cars and was known as quite a prankster.
Larry was an electric motor technician, working for Independent Electric for the majority of his 49-year career. Larry continued to work on old cars, going to auctions, enjoying the animals on his farm, and a variety of family activities such as going to band concerts, all kinds of ball games and fishing with his girls and grandkids. In later years he spent a lot of time caring for his parents. He was a genuine family man.
Survivors include his daughters, Arin and Chris Mason of Topeka; Megan Eisenbarth of Topeka and Kristin and Logan Cox of Berryton, Kansas; grandchildren, Mason, Westyn and Mary Zirkle, Emery, Coltyn, Brooklynn and Dominic Eisenbarth and Elliot and Claira Cox of Berryton.
Larry is preceded in death by his brother Ron Selby of Moore, Oklahoma and his parents Lyman and Darlene Selby.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Central Church of Christ, 1250 SW College, Topeka, Kansas 66604. The family will begin receiving friends beginning at noon on Friday at the church. Interment will be held at the Harveyville Cemetery at 3:30 pm on Friday afternoon.
The family encourages those with a classic car to drive them to the service in honor of Larry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shawnee County Parks and Recreation/Gage Park Train or Carousel.
