Larry J. Shipp, 77, of Freeport, IL passed away Monday August 4, 2025 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born October 23, 1947 in West, MS, the son of Singelton and Paralee (Horton) Shipp. In Larry’s younger years he attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport. He was employed at Micro Switch and in later years he worked in maintenance for the Freeport Housing Authority. Larry was a very independent and private person, but his family will always remember him as someone who loved to sing.
He is survived by his two brothers Earl Shipp and Levarn Shipp; and two sisters Nellie (Ralph) Lenoir and Barbara Shipp.
Preceding Larry in death are his parents, two sisters Lee Clara Bell and Betty Williams, and one brother Erilt Tanzie.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday August 9, 2025 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded following the service. A memorial has been established in his memory.
