Mr. Larry C. Shouse, age 69, of Deputy, Indiana, entered this life on October 7, 1953 at home in Austin, Indiana. He was the son of the late Carlos James and Bertha Deaton Shouse. He was raised in Blocher and was a 1970 graduate of Scottsburg High School. Larry was inducted into the United States Army on April 4, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rate of Sergeant and was honorably discharged to the reserves on April 3, 1979 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army Reserves until February 17, 1981. During his service he received the Good Conduct Medal, Air Assault Medal, Sharpshooter Badge M-16 Rifle, and the Expert Badge M-16 Rifle. Larry moved back to the Lexington, Indiana area and began a 45 year career with Burton Lumber as a head sawyer. He was blessed with three children, Michael, Jason, and Christie. Larry then went to work for EPC Viking Plastic's in Scottsburg for 2 years. He enjoyed fishing and watching football, especially the Cleveland Browns. Larry loved horseback riding with his friends and was often referred to as Fuzzy. He was a loving dad and papaw. Larry died on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 7:00 a.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
A LOVING FAMILY
Larry will be missed by his loving sons, Michael Shouse of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Jason Shouse and his wife, Dawn of Sautee, Georgia; his daughter, Christie Shouse Smith Holstein of North Vernon, Indiana; his grandchildren, Naomi Thomas, Hannah Shouse, Brianna Shouse, Daelyn Shouse, and Brooklynn Nickole Holstein; his step grandchildren, Cheyenne Patton, Ace Holstein, and Toni Holstein; his great grandchildren, Ameya, Elizabell, Davion, Haisly, and Kennedy; his step great grandchildren, Lance, Serenity, Michael, and Natalie; his brothers, Kenny Shouse and his wife Patty of Paris Crossing, Indiana, and Joe Shouse and his wife Sunita of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos James Shouse, Sr., his mother, Bertha Deaton Shouse, his brothers, Carlos James Shouse, Jr. and Floyd Shouse, and his son in law, John Smith.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 6, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., by Nick Spicer at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery,1415 North Gate Road Madison, Indiana

VISITATION
Friends may visit Monday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be conducted by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
