Larry R. Simons, age 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away in his home Monday, July 7, 2025. Larry was born February 17, 1939, in Moberly, Missouri, to Bernard and Mildred Simons. He was a graduate of Moberly Junior College. He met the love of his life, Marilyn McIntyre, at the young age of 16 and they married in March of 1960. They celebrated 57 loving years of marriage before Marilyn went to heaven. Larry attended Evangel University, obtained a real estate license, worked on the railroad and retired from the 3M Company after 30 years of service in March 1999.
Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid reader. He had a tender heart towards the Lord and served in his church over the years in various capacities. He attended Hope Church in Springfield for many years but was most recently a member of Healing River Worship Center in Walnut Shade, Missouri. He was a dedicated provider, husband, and father to his children. The family enjoyed long walks along the railroad and traveling both near and far.
Larry had five children, seven grandkids, and five great grandkids that he absolutely adored. Survivors include his daughter Deanna Viebrock and husband Jeff, his son Larry B. Simons and wife Rachel, his daughter Starla Simons and husband Jacob, son-in-law Wesley Day, sister June McGough, sister Sheila Burgin and husband John. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife, oldest daughter Debi Day, and infant son Daniel Simons.
He instilled the importance of strong faith in the Lord and a relationship with Jesus. We find comfort that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories that we will cherish forever.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N. National Ave., in Springfield. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Care has been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
