Larry D. Speaker, 82, of Columbus, passed from this life at 7:53 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Speaker was born October 28, 1941, in Seymour, the son of Francis W. and Edith L. Woehrman Speaker.
He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Boots November 26, 1966.
Larry retired from Reliance Electric in 2006 after 42 years of service.
He was the former owner of Speaker Tax Service.
Larry was an active member of White Creek United Methodist Church, Pork Producers Association, Farm Bureau and Bartholomew County Purebred Breeders.
He was a 4-H leader, Precinct Committeeman and was the recipient of the Distinguished Extension Service
He was a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife Jackie of 57 years; son, Michael (Kimberly) Speaker of Columbus; daughter, Jennifer (Rodney) Lawrence of Frankfort; grandchildren, Evan (Brooke) Speaker of Hope, Will Speaker of Columbus, Cody Speaker of Southport, Anna (Bryce) Oliver of Granger and Olivia Lawrence of Frankfort; brother, Ronald (Jackie) Speaker of Columbus; sister, Linda (Alan) Johnson of Columbus; and a sister-in-law, Bobbi Speaker of Seymour.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene Speaker; and a sister, Barbara Speaker.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at White Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jongmin Lee officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and 10:00 a.m. to time of service at the church.
He will be laid to rest at the White Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to White Creek United Methodist Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
