Larry Stinde, 81, of Central City, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon with his family by his side.
Larry was born December 18, 1941 in Centralia, the son of John H. Stinde and Opal Faye (Brown) Stinde.
Larry is survived by one daughter: Cassandra Kinney and husband Paul of Junction City; three grandchildren: Jordyn Kinney of Central City, Johnathon Stinde of Junction City, and Anthony Kinney of Junction City; five great grandchildren: Railyn Stinde, Johnathon Stinde II, November Stinde, Nevaeh Kinney, and Noel Dallas Kinney II; two sisters-in-law: Jan Ford and husband Bob of Centralia, and Connie Stinde of Centralia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Opal Stinde; three brothers: William Stinde, Roy Stinde, and Kermit L. Stinde; a sister: Carolyn Prosise; a brother-in-law: Alan Prosise; a nephew: Kermit John Stinde; and special friend: Nancy Pinkston.
Larry was known to his family as being the best dad, grandfather and great grandfather. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1978 - 1998. Fishing and camping was his greatest enjoyments with his daughter and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his Great Grandchildren on the weekends, it would upset him if he couldn't have them every weekend. He spent many mornings with his coffee friends, where they would reminisce and have a good time.
Per Larry's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public services will be held. In memory of Larry, memorial donations may be made for the great grandchildren's college fund and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, Illinois 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Stinde family. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com or the Funeral Home's Facebook page.
