Victoria Petrone Hutchins Stinde
July 25, 1952 – November 17, 2025
Victoria "Tori" Petrone Hutchins Stinde lived her life with an extraordinary gift for connection. She was endlessly curious about people, remembered every detail of their lives, and never ended a conversation without asking how you were. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine interest in others made her a source of comfort, joy, and encouragement to everyone she met.
Tori was born on July 25, 1952, at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena to Jean and Vic Petrone of Altadena. The youngest of four children, she grew up surrounded by her three older brothers. She spent her childhood marching on the Pasadena High School Drill Team, sewing her own fashionable outfits, swimming, playing golf, and building lifelong friendships. She attended the University of Southern California, where she joined Alpha Delta Pi and studied early childhood development, a major that reflected her natural love for children, families, and learning.
During her sophomore year at USC, Tori met her first love, Rob Hutchins. Tori and Rob married at Westminster Presbyterian Church in July of 1972, sharing 27 years of marriage until Rob's passing in 2000. Together they raised daughters Heather and Keli and created a loving home rooted in family, volunteerism, and community involvement. Tori poured her heart into their daughters' schools and activities, serving tirelessly in the PTA at Carver Elementary, Huntington Junior High, and San Marino High School. She worked as a teaching aide at both Huntington and San Marino High Schools, touching the lives of students with her compassion and steady guidance.
Tori was a dedicated member of San Marino Community Church, where she served twice as a deacon. She was also deeply involved in P.E.O., holding every office including President, and cherishing the sisterhood she found there. Her commitment to service was a consistent thread throughout her life; she never hesitated to show up, pitch in, and brighten the lives of others.
In 2007, Tori met her second husband John William "Bill" Stinde. The two fell quickly and joyfully into love, meeting in the spring, engaged by summer, and married that December at San Marino Community Church. Over their 18 years together, they loved traveling the world on cruises, attending board meetings for Bill's work, and sharing a life filled with companionship, laughter, and devotion.
Above all, Tori's greatest joys were her two daughters and her five grandchildren Patrick, Madison, Logan, McKenzie, and Charlie. She delighted in every update, every accomplishment, and every moment of their lives. Her family never hung up the phone without having her ask about every detail of their lives, a reflection of the boundless love that defined her.
Tori is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter Heather Hays (Eric) and granddaughters Madison and McKenzie; and daughter Keli Craig (Chris) and grandsons Logan and Charlie. She is also survived by her brothers Jim Petrone (Keith Kauhanen) and David Petrone (Nancy), as well as her cherished nieces Lindsay, Carly, and Amy. She is lovingly remembered by her stepson Aaron Stinde (Nellie) and his son Patrick. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Victoria Azat and nephews Jason, Alexander, Mike, and Issa, whom she cared for deeply. Tori is preceded in death by her beloved husband Rob, her brother Trooper, and her parents Jean and Vic.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on December 6th at San Marino Community Church, where Tori worshipped, served, and found community for so many years. Family and friends are encouraged to wear bright colors in honor of her vibrant spirit and the beautiful light she brought into the world.
