Larry Stites

ROCKVILLE- Larry "Ponch" Stites, 74, of Rockville, Indiana passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He retired from Hercules/AET with 32 years of service. After retirement he worked for the Town of Rockville in various departments.
He was born July 21, 1950, in Clinton, Indiana to the late William G. Stites and Catherine Myers Stites.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Paula Marie Dowd Stites whom he married March 29, 1970, in Terre Haute. Also surviving, two sons, Christopher Sean Stites of Rockville and Michael Stites of Terre Haute; daughter, Mary (John) Pierce of Rockville; one brother, Glen (Ruth) Stites of Montezuma; two sisters, Vickie Jackson of Mecca and Betty (Dan) Gower of Robison, Illinois; four grandchildren, Deven Stites, Brandon Pierce, Morgan Pierce, and Lance Stites; five great-grandchildren, Ayanna Harris, Chase Harris, Javoni Stites, Navi Stites, and Saint Peterson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelley Anne Hopkins, sister, Linda Ratcliff, brothers, Billy Joe Stites, Ross Stites and Donald "Woo" Stites.
He was a member of Immanuel Southern Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 23, at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville, with the Rev. Mark Houvenagle officiating.
