Larry Gene Storey, 79, of Leesville, SC, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Born in Batesburg, SC, on October 18, 1946, he was a son of the late St. Pierre Storey and Lillian Grice Storey. A true outdoorsman, Mr. Storey found peace and happiness in nature, whether it was fishing, hunting, or enjoying a round of golf. He could often be found in his yard, soaking up the day. He had a competitive spirit and loved a good challenge, especially when it came to a friendly game of cards or checkers. Mr. Storey also enjoyed preparing meals for his wife. Known for his big heart, he never met a stranger. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering belief in forgiveness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Caring for others came naturally to him; it was simply who he was. Mr. Storey also attended Peace Haven Assembly.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jeanette Storey; daughters, Tammi Coggins (Scott) and Tonya Rodgers (Chris); son, Travis Storey (Shambi); grandchildren, Parker Humphreys, Braden Humphreys, and Madison Hernandez (Alexander); great-grandchild, Aspen Hernandez; and sister, Joyce Warran, along with many beloved extended family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Storey was preceded in death by his brothers Leonard Storey, Edward Storey, and Wayne Storey.
The funeral to celebrate Mr. Storey's life will be held at 4 o'clock on Sunday, November 2nd, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg Chapel, with the Rev. David Cockrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridge Spring Cemetery. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 3 o'clock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission, St. Jude’s's, The Boys Farm, or to a charity of one's choice.
