Larry Dale Thompson 67, passed away from this life all too soon on September 25, 2024 in Temple, Texas. He was born on March 12, 1957 in Gorman, Texas to S.W. and Mary (Freeman) Thompson. After finishing school, he worked many jobs throughout his life. He retired from Energy Transfer in 2019 after 22 years. His favorite job however was farming and ranching, you could see the smile on his face when he was running his tractor or out checking his cows.
On March 27, 1993 Larry married Kristi Odell. Together, they raised a beautiful family. He served on the Gorman School Board for 9 years. He also coached little league baseball for his son's teams. As much as he loved his wife and two sons, his grandchildren were the joy of his life. Larry had a special tradition of hosting cookouts for each family member on their birthday.
Larry will be greatly missed by his loving family and by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by his wife Kristi Thompson, two sons Stetson Thompson of Gorman and Stratton Thompson of Eastland, his precious grandchildren Straleigh and Strayson Thompson of Gorman. Two sisters Lenora (Jesse) Speer of Ranger and Doris (Jerry) Marshall of Temple, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Larry is preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister Ethel Mae Johnston.
A private family graveside service was held September 28, 2024 at Oakland Cemetery with Richard Watson as the officiating minister.
