Larry Moran Thrift, 65, of Lonoke, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. He was born in Lonoke, Arkansas, on November 30, 1959, to Lloyd and Edith Thrift.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. To many, he was affectionately known as “Bubba,” but to Timmy and Emma, he was simply “Pops.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Thrift. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Thrift; one son, Blake (Ashley) Thrift; one stepson, Ryan (Kristen) Ripper; two stepdaughters, Stephanie (Rodney) Dobbins and Kelly Ripper; his mother, Edith Thrift; two brothers, Sammy Thrift and Wayne (Linda) Thrift; four sisters, Reba Mackey, Sandra Tumey, Cornell (Duane) Bray, and Pam (Thomas) Thompson; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Larry grew up on a farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong love of tractors and fishing. He worked hard throughout his life and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
After his time on the farm, Larry helped build bridges in Little Rock before becoming an auto mechanic. He worked at a Chevy dealership for ten years, then spent the next seventeen at the Ford dealership in Lonoke. He concluded his career at Remington, retiring in 2024 after twenty years of dedicated service.
In his spare time, Larry enjoyed mowing with and tinkering on his beloved Kubota tractor, grabbing a bite at Bubba’s BBQ, and spending time with his family. He never wanted to miss anything his grandkids were involved in, and he especially cherished his Sunday drives with his mother. Above all, Larry found joy in laughter, good company, and being surrounded by the people he loved most.
