Larry Torgerson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 24, 2025.
Larry Douglas Torgerson, 76, the tennis loving, unconventional, intellectually formidable, most interesting Torgerson in the world, died on Wednesday July 23, 2025, at River Ridge Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Billings, MT.
Larry was born on June 17, 1949, in Sidney, MT to Mervin and Ardys (Moen) Torgerson. He attended school in Lambert until 6th grade then went to 3 Buttes School from 6th to 8th grade then back in Lambert through high school graduating with the class of 1968. He was an excellent student and motivated learner that loved solving problems with a relentless determination through completion. At the age of 18, Larry was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He was fascinated by computers and in the fall of 1971, he took a night course on computer programming along with his brother Glenn while working for a plumber during the day in Great Falls, Montana. He loved farming and went back to Lambert to farm with his father Mervin until 1991 when he began farming with his youngest brother Chris until 2007. He loved family and kids and always enjoyed visiting and sharing the things he learned over the years. He continued to live on the family farm until 2016 when he moved into Extended Care in Sidney, MT where he enjoyed visiting with the other residents. He then spent some time at Crestwood before moving to Tender Nest in Billings, MT in 2020 for a while before moving for a final time to Eagle Cliff Manor/River Ridge where he would spend the rest of his days living and laughing with friends and family until God called him home.
Larry is survived by his mother Ardys Torgerson; his siblings Marilyn (Bryce), Glenn (Joy), LaVonne (Henry), Connie, Cynthia, Rhonda (Todd), Myron (Julie), Naomi (Dave), Chris (Susan); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Mervin Torgerson, and brother Rodney Torgerson.
