Working on the court with Davis was a lucky experience early in my career and blessed to learn from his leadership, blessed to call him my friend, and blessed by his character that left an impression on me for over 12 years.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity of officiating with Davis´s father Jim and a few years later his son named Davis. Both of whom I have the utmost respect for as basketball referees but more importantly as people. You could tell at a very early age Davis was going to be a star! And he is and always will be just like his father.

I met Davis in 2013 when we worked together in a middle school behavior classroom. We quickly became close friends-supporting students and each other through the years.
Around that time, I was coaching and he was chasing his dream of becoming a DI official. He convinced me to come watch him work a scrimmage, and that moment changed my life. With his encouragement, I stepped into officiating and it became one of my greatest passions.
Davis mentored me, challenged me, made me laugh, got me connected to others and believed in me. His loyalty, heart, and positivity were unmatched.
He was taken far too soon. I´m still in disbelief. We lost a truly good one.

I knew Davis through High School basketball. He always had a smile on his face and you could tell he loved officiating. He would brighten any gym and it was an honor to have him working our games. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

It's an honor to celebrate the remarkable life journey of Davis, whose passion for officiating illuminated countless games and touched so many lives.
Davis wasn't just an official; he was a mentor & friend to many, always willing to share his experience and offer a kind word.
My prayers are with Davis' family and loved ones during this difficult time.
Thank you for your friendship and the impact you made in my life. Rest in peace!

My heart is heavy beyond words learning of our loss of Davis Torgerson. In 30 years of coaching basketball, I have come across very few officials and men who carried themselves with the professionalism, spirit and positive energy that Davis did. He inspired me.
I can only imagine the significant impact he had on students, family, community and friends.
My sincerest condolences and hopes for healing to all in his inner circle. And while was not in his inner circle, he always made me feel like I was. The basketball world will miss him dearly and are all better because of him.
With a heavy heart and love,
Shanan Rosenberg "Coach Rose"
