Glenn Edwin Dean, of Knoxville went to his heavenly home with the Lord on July 16, 2025, at 5:29pm, surrounded by close family and friends. He was born June 30, 1945, in Tumwater, WA to George Benjamin Dean and Loveda Ruth (Ely) Dean.

He is survived by his wife Barbara "Bobbie" Dean of 44 years, children Teresea Kennedy-Dean (Kelly) of Spokane, WA; Michelle Schmidt (Tom) of Knoxville, TN and their children: Andrea, Tyler and Haley; Patrick Baker (Andrea) of Knoxville, TN, their son Tyler Baker (Thea). He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren who brought him endless delight. Glenn is also survived by his sister Nancy Ruth Dean and brother Clyde Benjamin Dean both of Central Point, Oregon and a niece Suzanne Schmidt (Andrew) of Eureka, CA.

Glenn began his studies in computer science in 1967 at Lane Community College in Eugene, OR, finishing his studies at University of Oregon. He was a programmer in several business computing languages. He was identified as a leader early in his career not only because he was a bright programmer, but because he had a strong ability to communicate with leaders across multiple departments and articulate well how computers could be leveraged across a multitude of industries. He was a leader that could bring out the best in his team members. He excelled quickly into leadership positions and was sought out as a problem solver and a consultant for several companies throughout the Silicone Valley in the 1980's and 1990's.

Though Glenn had a successful career in computer science, those who knew him best, remember him not for his titles, but with empathy, encouraging with sincerity, and offering wisdom with grace. His dry wit and emotional intelligence made him a cherished friend and mentor to many.

He and Bobbie met at Lucky Stores headquarters in Dublin, CA in 1979 and enjoyed many adventures together; sailing on the San Francisco Bay with friends, ski trips in the Sierra Mountains, weekend trips to Carmel and the like. They relocated to Atlanta, GA when Glenn was transferred by his employer; eventually settling in Bobbie's hometown of Knoxville, TN. There they continued their weekend exploring jaunts in the Smokey Mountains, Blowing Rock, NC, Gatlinburg, the Shenandoah Valley and other nearby areas.

After moving to Knoxville, Glenn found his true calling as a Christian counselor. From 1994 well into the 2020's. He walked alongside countless individuals in their spiritual journeys, offering guidance, hope, and a deep reminder of God's love. His faith was not just something he believed – it was something he lived, and it touched everyone around him.

Glenn's legacy is one of love, faith, and service. He leaves behind a family who adored him and a community forever changed by his kindness and strength.

A celebration of Glenn's life will be held on Sunday, July 20th at Buffat Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a service at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Parkinson's Foundation or Buffat Height's General fund.

Glenn was my boss at Lucky Corporate offices. At one of the darkest times in my life, he restored me. He challenged me with projects I didn't know I could do and discovered I could. He changed my life in wonderful ways. I will always cherish the memory. Rest in peace, Glenn, and thank you.
