PEKIN ~ Larry Eugene Watson, 68, of Pekin, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at UnityPoint Health – Pekin.
Born September 18, 1948 in Pekin to Leslie and Joyce (Brawley) Watson, he married Melody Sue Giddens on January 23, 1966 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Debbie Shipman of Peoria and Tammy Niklewicz of Bolingbrook; four grandchildren, Austin (Jasmine) Harper, Mason Harper, Myah Shipman and Hannah Niklewicz and one brother, Terry Watson of Canton. He also leaves several brothers and sisters in law, Sharon (Willie) McDonald of Marquette Heights, Ron (Louise) Giddens of North Pekin, Robert Giddens of St. Clair, Missouri, Betty Giddens of Peoria and Jane Giddens of Marquette Heights
He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Larry retired from Illinois American Water Company as a supervisor.
He loved singing and playing country music and was part of the band, Soundtrack, for many years.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where visitation will be held one hour before the funeral. Pastor Danny Miller, his nephew, will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home, 500 North 4th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
