Mr. Larry “Wayne” Marsh, 76, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away at Forsyth Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
He was born on December 20, 1949, in Forsyth County, North Carolina, to the late Emory Poindexter Marsh and Edythe Knight McDowell Marsh.
Wayne enjoyed spending time at the Outer Banks fishing and being with his family. He also had a deep love for horses and was an avid trail rider, participating in wagon trains, riding in Love Valley, and enjoying time on horseback at home. Wayne attended East Forsyth High School before proudly serving three tours in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his active-duty service, he continued his commitment by joining the United States Army Reserves. In August 1972, he married his beloved wife of 54 years, Sandra Marsh.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Marsh; sisters, Susan Marsh and Cindy Marsh; stepbrother, Lanny Gentry; stepsister, Jan Bullard; and stepsister, Judi Seigle.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sandra Templeton Marsh; his sons, Jason Marsh (April Marsh) and Evin Marsh; his grandchildren, Johnathan Marsh, Chloee Marsh, and Hayden Marsh; and his nephew, Joe Templeton.
A private graveside service will be held at Salisbury National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Research Institute.
