Patty Jo was born in Denver, Colorado, to Myra Hatch and Arden Norton Durfee. From the beginning of her life, she carried a strength and a caring spirit that shaped the way she loved and supported those around her. She was a devoted mother, cherished family member, and dear friend.
Patty Jo’s life was defined by her love for her children, and grandchildren. Her life was influenced and guided by her strong testimony of the Savior and her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She gave of herself fully, offering tenderness, resilience, and compassion to those she loved.
Patty Jo is survived by her loving companion, William Wills, and her four children: Cody Schnakenburg (Cathy), Jake Schnakenburg (Andrea), Amy Cabealawa (Mark), Mary Schanno (Jeremey), and eleven beloved grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myra Hatch and Arden Norton Durfee, and her brothers, Lloyd Durfee, Jeffery Durfee, and Charles Durfee.
Those who knew Patty Jo will remember her for her contagious laugh, gentle heart, her quiet strength, and the way she made others feel truly seen and cared for. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the lives she touched.
A celebration of Patty Jo’s life will be held March 30th at 4pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 4780 Westchester Road, Winston Salem, NC 27103. A graveside service will be held in Wyoming at the Lovell cemetery on June 9th.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
