A funeral service for Larry Weaver, 81, of Buffalo Center, will be held 10:30 AM Monday, October 6, 2025, at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery with military honors conducted. His family will greet friends from 3 to 5 PM Sunday at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Buffalo Center, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Larry Burt Weaver was born on November 7, 1943 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Marvin and Dorothy (Hofbauer) Weaver. After graduating from Buffalo Center High School in 1962, he was united in marriage to Barb Abels on January 5, 1963. They had two children, Cindy and Todd. For many years, Larry served in the United States Army being stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Larry operated the Standard Oil gas station in town. Later he was a rural mail carrier, with his last route being out of the Lakota/Ledyard area.

Larry was always very active in the community. Over the years, he served on the fire department and was the fire chief. He served on the city council and also drove the ambulance. In his later years, he served on the nursing home board and the First Congregational Church board. He also loved to deliver meals on wheels.

His favorite activity was his daily visits to the deli where you could be assured he was going to greet you with his sarcasm. You knew he loved and respected you by how much he picked on you. He especially enjoyed harassing the lying Lutheran.

Larry was deeply heartbroken since losing the love of his life, Barb on July 25, 2024. Her absence left a profound emptiness in his heart. He found comfort in his faith and looked forward to the day they would be reunited with Jesus. Larry B. Weaver died Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Mason city at the age of 81.

Larry is survived by his children Cindy (Randy) Meinders of Sioux Falls SD, and Todd of Fairfield; his grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher (Alexandrea) and Samuel Meinders, Jordan (Mia) Weaver and Autumn (Gabe) Umbarger; and his great grandchildren, Ella & Emery Meinders, and Cora & Judah Meinders, and Emerson Umbarger. He is also survived by several family members and friends.
