On Friday, August 13, 2021, Larry A. Wehner, beloved Uncle, passed away at the age of 78. He was born in Melrose Park Illinois June 4, 1943, to Charles and Bernice Wehner. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Northern Illinois University in 1970. He was a college professor for over thirty years at South Suburban College in South Holland, Illinois. He taught Art History, Art, and Humanities. He absolutely loved to teach and interact with his students.
Larry was fortunate enough to lead several educational trips overseas to places such as France, Italy, England, Greece, Egypt, Germany, Belgium, and Holland. Many of these trips he was able to bring his beloved mother with him and they made many wonderful memories. He was an avid reader and accumulated a vast library of books on many topics. He was an artist and painted many painting over the years. His favorite to paint were landscapes and nature with vibrant colors and depth. He loved to get to know people and really cared about each person he came to know. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and would soon consider you a friend. He loved all cultures and assembled art pieces that reflected that love.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bernice Wehner, his brother and sister-in-law Robert (Janice) Wehner, and his beloved cat Toby. He is survived by his niece Linnette (Randall) Carter, nephew Christopher (Laura) Wehner, great nieces Cara (Benjamin) Wolfe, Victoria (Mike Glover) Wehner, great nephews Matthew Carter, Daniel (Chelsea) Wehner, great-great nieces Juliette Wolfe, Penelope Glover, and Zayla Wehner, great-great nephew Benjamin Glover. He was also survived by his beloved cats Barnabas and Cuddie.
The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Mira Zielonka and Connie. Without their friendship and support Larry could not have lived in his own home until death. We are forever grateful to them.
