Larry W. Whitehead

Larry W. Whitehead, age 76, of Quito, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at BMH – Tipton, with his loved ones by his side.
During his younger years, Larry spent most of his time playing softball, or out on the riverbank fishing with his friends. He attended Munford High School and joined the Army a few years later, returning home a decorated Vietnam veteran.
He was a carpenter by trade, but his passion was dancing and singing karaoke. Over the years, he sang many songs but some of his most well-known hits were "Remember When" and "Sweet Caroline," and a duet he did with his son, "Man of Constant Sorrow." As his health declined, he traded his dancing shoes for a peaceful sitting spot on his front porch, where he spent his days in quiet reflection and as he and Mrs. Susie called it, "watching the world go by."
He is survived by his wife, Susie Whitehead; his children, Rhonda (Lance) Reid, of Dickson, Bobby (Lisa) Simmons, of Ripley, Duck (Amanda) Whitehead, of Millington, and Jennifer Whitehead, of Quito; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who called him Pawpaw; his church family from Quito Methodist Church, and countless other friends that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Missy Yarbro; his parents, Cliff and Mary Morgan Whitehead, and his brothers, James Whitehead, Brent Whitehead, Marsden Whitehead, and Paul Whitehead.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, December 17, at Covington Funeral Home, with interment with military honors to follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds.
