Larry Dale Winkler of Kellyville, Oklahoma, departed from this world on August 24, 2025, at the Green Country Nursing Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he spent his final days surrounded by love. Born on November 7, 1951, to Marion and Velma Winkler in the quaint town of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Larry grew up with a spirit of adventure and a passion for life that would shape his journey.
A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, Larry found joy in the simplest of pleasures. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Twilla, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Their bond was a testament to the power of love, companionship, and support. Larry was a proud father to his son, James, and daughter, Shelia, whose lives he touched profoundly. The legacy of his love will continue through his ten great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and laughter in his later years.
Larry was a man of many passions. He had an unwavering love for dirt track racing, where the thrill of speed and competition fueled his spirit. In addition to racing, he had a keen interest in collecting old cars, a hobby that sparked his creativity and determination as he sought to restore these classic machines to their former glory. His home, which he built in the 1980s, stood as a testament to his hard work and dedication, a place filled with memories and the laughter of family gathered together.
A faithful member of the Holiness church in Kellyville, Larry's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He exhibited kindness and consideration in all of his dealings, always making time to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a neighbor, a friend, and a source of strength to many.
Larry's passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege to know him. He joins his departed loved ones in spirit, including his parents, Marion and Velma Winkler; his first wife, Catherine Winkler, who shared 38 years of love and friendship with him; and his two brothers and sister. In their hearts and memories, Larry's legacy will continue to shine brightly, reminding us of the joy and love he brought into our lives.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Twila; his son, James; his daughter, Shelia; ten great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a host of family and friends.
While Larry may no longer walk this earth, the impression he left on those around him will remain everlasting. His laughter, passion, and love will echo in the hearts of his family and friends, a wonderful reminder of the life he lived and the love he gave so freely.
