Larry Wren Obituary

Larry E. Wren

Jul 26, 1939 - Jul 15, 2025

Sandusky

Larry E. Wren, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Larry was born July 26, 1939, in Big Springs, Ohio, to the late Everett and Nettie (Shroyer) Wren.

Larry graduated from Sandusky High School in 1957. Larry served in the US Army Reserves from 1962-68. He retired from Lorain Ford Assembly Plant in 1997 after 37 years of employment. He was a past president of Sandusky Eagles Aerie No. 444, later serving many years as secretary alongside his wife Jean. He served on SBA Board of Directors off and on from 1979-84.

Larry was an avid fan of all Cleveland sports teams, Browns, Cavaliers and Indians. He loved watching the games, especially with family. He enjoyed golf immensely, which he began playing sometime in the 1960s, right up until just a few months ago. His favorite course was Mills Creek in Sandusky, where we guess he played hundreds, if not close to a thousand, rounds over the years. His all-time favorite golfer was Jack Nicklaus. He was also a league bowler for several decades in Sandusky area beginning around 1973.

Larry is survived by his son, Michael Wren; his daughter, Sheryl (Mike) Allan; two grandchildren, Cassidy and Kendal Allan; sister, Sandi (Wayne) Thomas; and several other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Wren, in 2002.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Additional visitation will be at 10 a.m. until final goodbyes at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.

Those wishing to contribute to Larry's memory may do so to one's favorite charity.
