Larry Wright, age 80 of Crystal Springs, MS passed away Thursday, January, 9 2025 at the University of MS Medical Center.
Larry grew up in Crystal Springs and graduated from Crystal Springs High School. Upon graduation, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy and served in many overseas locations. He and his wife, Carol, lived in Florida before moving back to MS. Upon returning from his service, he worked at Farm Bureau, Wright Motor, and Magnolia Forestry.
Larry was a member of the Business Men's Sunday School Class at Crystal Springs United Methodist Church and was known as an avid golfer. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening in raised beds, creating glass-bottle wind chimes and spoon rests, and working part-time at The Wright Stuff. Larry was known by his close friends for his brute honesty and humor. Affectionately known as "Paw," he still enjoyed riding his golf cart on a regular basis and looked forward to his visits from his grandchildren and great children, always having special snacks for them on hand.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Plitt Wright and is survived by his sons, Payne (Brenda) Wright and Chris (Amy) Wright; grandchildren, Banks (Andrea) Wright, Christy (Will) Wright Bowdler, Matthew (Amanda) Wright, Taylor (Marc) Wright Swinney, Kirk Wright; great grandchildren, Hadley Wright, Marlee Wright, Ashlynn Wright, Fynlee Wright, Mattison Wright, Ollie Swinney, and Able Bowdler; and siblings, Debbie (Hugh) Wright Webb and Marty (DeAnn dec.) Wright.
A celebration of Larry's life will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025 at Crystal Springs Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral.
