LaRue John Barnhardt

LaRue John Barnhardt (John), of Deptford, NJ, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at age 85. Born in Lawrenceville, IL on July 28, 1940. John was the firstborn son of Paul and Juanita (Potts) Barnhardt. When John was nine, his parents relocated the family to Westville, NJ.
John served as a Marine after completing high school. When his term was completed, he married the love of his life, Alda Aumack, on August 13, 1966. They had three children.They both served in the Bible Club Movement and enjoyed teaching Bible lessons to school children. When Alda passed away in 2003 after 37 years of marriage, John was heartbroken.
The most important date in John's life is September 16, 1956. Attending a gospel service at the Gospel Center in Deptford, he realized that "whosoever" in John 3:16 included him and he was saved and made ready for heaven. He was a happy Christian who loved to share his faith with others.
He will be remembered by many for his bright smile, his unusual expressions, his abundant garden, and his interest in people. John had a wide circle of friends and could often be found helping others. He especially enjoyed any time he was able to spend farming. In his early years this was in Illinois, and in his later years he enjoyed spending time with friends in West Virginia on their farm.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: John (Cindy) Barnhardt, Melinda (Don) Bouchard, and Paul (Leah) Barnhardt, his grandchildren: John E. (Brittany) Barnhardt, Abigail Barnhardt (Darrian Shufford), Catherine (Fred Paquet) Bouchard, Jacob (Jin He) Bouchard, Samuel (Kelsey) Bouchard, Benjamin (Martina) Bouchard, Andrew (Hope) Barnhardt and Rebekah Barnhardt. His great grandchildren include Thomas and Jayden Paquet, Yeon-suel and Laon Bouchard, Giselle and Rhönen Bouchard with a new baby Bouchard coming soon, and Asher and Björn Bouchard. He also leaves three siblings: Natalie Barnhardt, Isaac (Nancy) Barnhardt, and David (Monika Skain) Barnhardt. There are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who remember him fondly.
John was predeceased by his brother Richard, wife Alda, and parents, Paul and Juanita Barnhardt.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM at Calvary Bible Church, 1416 Delsea Drive, Deptford, NJ 08096. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ.
