LaShanda Renee Wilson

LaShanda "Shanda" Wilson passed away peacefully on Nov. 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Shanda, 57, was born in Detroit, Michigan to Barbara and Marion "Pete" Wilson and grew up in Akron, Ohio. Shanda attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from Central- Hower High School in 1985. Shanda went on to graduate from Riggs-Lamar Beauty College as a licensed cosmetologist in 1992.

Shanda was baptized at an early age and was a lifetime member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. As a child, she was a part of the RWG children's choir and was a member of the Usher's board. Her passion to sing in the choir grew with her, and when she became an adult, she sang in the adult choir as well. If she wasn't at church singing in the choir, she had her music loud singing at home. In addition to singing, Shanda LOVED to do nails, hair, and makeup. There was never a day that you would see her with her nails undone, and if you did it would not be long before she did them. Shanda also loved to cook, she had many requested meals like her potato salad and her fried chicken never missed a beat either.

Shanda loved her family and was very family-orientated to the extent that she did not have friends; they were all family. Shanda had six children of her own, but never turned a child away: anyone for that matter. She loved to help anyone in need in any capacity that she could. Her home was always filled with children, and the children never wanted to leave. From nieces and nephews to cousins and children of family friends; no one was rejected! Shanda was a shoulder to cry on to anyone who needed it.

Shanda was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Wilson, brother Keith Wilson, aunts Marquita Kirkland, Pearlie Whitfield, and Alberta Jennings. Shanda leaves to cherish her memories her fiancé Andrew White; brother Sahlomon (Shirfaye) Sahlomon, her children; Christopher Williams, Ke'Auna and Bre'Auna Wilson, Darion (Chelsie) and Marion Wilson, and TeShauna Wilson. Three grandchildren; Mayleen McSwain, Zurii'Auna Wilson, and Bellerose Wilson, cousins; Rhonda (Biscuit) and Tonya Henderson. Her lifetime best friend Velvet Landingham, her best cousin and friend Veronica Whitfield, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.
