Ms. LaTonya Nicole Carter, 44, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, affectionately known to us as "Sassy", born on August 30, 1979 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lee and Maxine Brantley. LaTonya gained her wings at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS surrounded by her loved one.
Sassy was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast and a Moss Point High School Class of 1998 graduate. After high school, she attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where she earned an Associates of Arts degree in Business Management Technology. After graduation, she worked at the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for The Deaf and Blind until her health began to fail.
Sassy never met a stranger and was loved by all. If you encountered her and she had your number, she would always call you. She knew everyone's birthday and called you on your special born day just to sing you a birthday song. She enjoyed talking on the telephone, listening to Gospel music, eating, and going for rides.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maxine Brantley; one brother, Anthony Carter; five uncles and four aunts.
She is survived by one brother, Mr. Micheal Carter of Pascagoula, MS; three sisters, Wanda Carter of Pascagoula, MS, Jaqueline (Trelayne Hill) Savage of Pascagoula, MS, and Donna Bates of Hattiesburg, MS; one uncle, Alonzo Smith of Moss Point, MS; two aunts, Lucille Booker of Pascagoula, MS and Flora Wiggins of Moss Point, MS; four special cousins, Kutina Carter, Shandra Carter, Tamyra Smith, and Monique Murphy, cousin, Deonta McCullar; God-sisters, Angela Smith and Dana Smith; two special friends, Linda Brown and Marsha Frieghtman; special nieces, Ebony McWilliams, LaOceanalla Savage, Tiva Rucker, Jemmilla Bullock, Kyleigh Carter, Kailin Bates, Ka'Lyani Savage, Keilah Rucker, Savannah Lett, Bryanna Williams, and Ivanna Knight; special nephews, Jataurus Carter, Micheal "AJ" Carter, Anthony Carter, Tremain Moore, Talen Smith, Zaylen Mitchell, Kaiden Bates, Landen Hyde, Dylan Patterson, Micah Rucker, Elijah Rucker, Isaiah Rucker, and Destonne Lawrence, a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
