Laura Bartelt Obituary

Laura Jane Bartelt, age 102, went to her eternal home on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, ushered into eternal life because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the first Good Friday for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life for all who would believe in him.

Laura was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on January 29, 1923, the third of four children of George and Lillian Konrad. She spent the majority of her life in Oshkosh where she graduated from Oshkosh Business College and worked as a private secretary for the Oshkosh Public Service before marrying Gerhard (Gary) Bartelt in 1946. They were blessed with two daughters on whom Laura poured her loving attention along with nurturing their school classmates, neighborhood children, and any family or friends who needed her help. Laura and Gary were doting grandparents and also spent years volunteering as docents at the EAA where Laura played the organ during Sunday services at the EAA Chapel. After Gary's death in 1994, Laura continued to be part of regular family gatherings and also enjoyed the warmth of Saturday morning hair appointments with Mary and crew at The Cut Above Salon. Laura spent the final 6 years of her life living with her daughter and son-in-law on their farm in Weston Township, Wisconsin.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers/sisters-in-law William/Mildred Konrad and Frederick/Mary Konrad, one sister who died in infancy, and one grandson, David Paul Luedeke. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra/Arthur Luedeke, Weston Township, and Susan/Edward Tucker, Green Bay, WI; 5 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Laura's Celebration of Life service will be livestreamed and held at 11. AM on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church-Christie, N6414 WI-73, Neillsville, WI. Visitation will be from 9 AM – 11 AM. Following the service, a dinner will be served in the church hall. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh, WI on April 30 at 2 PM.

The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to The House of the Dove hospice center, Marshfield, Wisconsin, for the wonderful and loving care given Laura during her final week of earthly life. For those wishing to remember Laura in a special way, the family suggests a memorial gift in her name be given to The House of the Dove.

Laura and my mother went to school together. They and about 6 other girls started a bridge club which continued until they were all in their 70's. Unfortunately one by one they passed, Laura was the last survivor of the "Bridge Club Girls". Maybe they are together again in Heaven dealing those cards ;-) I have such fond memories of Laura, at one point she was my Sunday School Teacher at St. Paul's UCC church here in Oshkosh. I am so sorry for your loss Sandy and Susie. Prayers for you and your families.
