Meet in Lane #2 at 2:15 p.m. (Not before 2:00 p.m.)

Laura Lorene Buchanan was born on March 15, 1936 to Homer Tirl and Myrtle Bonney. At the age of 89, Laura went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 28, 2025.

Laura was a true West Texas girl who had grown up in the McCamey and Pecos, Texas area. She graduated from Pecos High School. In 1955, Laura met the love of her life in Pecos at Al's drive-in. As the story is told she rolled up to Al's in her big O Buick having parked alongside a shiny 2-door Austin Healy. She immediately noticed car and driver as she stealthily approached the little convertible she said to the young driver; "Can I look at your little car?" The driver responded, "Sure girl look all you want." The driver was none other than Mickie Buchanan. She and Mickie were married months later and enjoyed 70+ years of marriage, a true testament and legacy for all.

As soon as the two love birds said I do, Laura and Mickie moved to Lubbock, TX where Laura quickly found a job to support Mickie in getting his engineering degree from Texas Tech. After graduation from Texas Tech, they eventually moved to Abilene, TX where Laura gave birth to their daughter Renie. The family, through a series of Mickie's career moves, ended up in Friendswood, TX where Mickie began his career as a NASA engineer.

Laura loved to cook and bake and had many "award winning" recipes, great dinner creations, pies, cakes and delights. She entertained many guests and family at her table without one complaint. Her kitchen became a favorite spot for Mickie, the family and friends, she even gave the grandkids a breakfast menu where they could order off the menu making cherished memories.

Laura was a quilt maker, made stain glass window hangings, loved to sing and she painted. She spent hours on her quilts. She traveled to quilt shows and conventions. Part of her legacy will be the wonderful samples of her quilts, stained glass and paintings left with friends and family.

Laura loved the Lord her God with all her heart, mind and soul. The words faithful, enduring along with unwavering commitment are but a few words to describe her love for her Lord, husband and family. Laura often reminded us when it came time to attend church she would say "It is time for Worship." She is now singing in full harmony with the angels worshiping in awe and wonder.

Laura Lorene Buchanan was preceded in death by her sisters Nancy Bonney and Peggy Jean Perry; Father Homer Tirl Bonney and Mother Myrtle Lorene Reynolds Bonney.

She is survived by her husband Mickie Buchanan; Daughter Renie and husband Chip Owens of Porter, TX; Grandson Travis and wife Stephanie Worden along with great granddaughters Chloe and Riley Worden of New Caney, TX; Granddaughter Rachel and husband Gabriel Iwabuchi of Seguin, TX; Niece Terri Hall; Nephew Mickey Perry; Niece Becky Wilson; and several great nieces and nephews.
