It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved mother, Laura "Denese" Godwin Hadley, who left us on August 18, 2025, at the age of 60, while surrounded by her family and friends in her final moments.

Denese was born on June 11, 1965, and was a native of Castleberry, Alabama. She was preceded in death by; her parents Mason Godwin and Mary "Bonnie" Ballard; her daughter Dakota Jenese Murrell; her brother William "Bill" Godwin; and her nephew Cory Godwin.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Hadley; her siblings, Maxine Miller, Sherry Aaron, and Keith Godwin; her only child, Nikki (Caleb) Stewart; step-children, Anthony (April) Hadley; and Tiffany (Jeremy) Clifton; and her grandchildren, Karter Simmons, Owen Simmons, Aubrey Hadley, Laikyn Clifton, Noah Hadley, Amelia Stewart, Easton Hadley, Liam Clifton, and Hayes Stewart; along with an abundance of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held at Williams Memorial Chapel on Thursday, August 21, 2025, with family visitation from 9-10 AM, visitation from 10-11 AM, and the memorial service from 11-12 AM. Graveside service to follow at Buffington Cemetery which is located next to Conecuh County Junior High School, 2347 Cleveland Ave, Castleberry, AL 36432.

Pallbearers will be Karter Simmons, Paul Stewart, Cody Gipson, Jackson Gipson, Anthony Hadley, and Jeremy Clifton.

A special thanks to D.W. McMillan Home Health, My Brother's Keeper Home Care, and Southern Care Hospice for helping care for Denese in her final months.
