Laura Hyde Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duffy-Poule Funeral & Cremation Services - Attleboro on Jan. 28, 2026.
Laura C. Hyde (née Colgan), 68, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a life defined by quiet strength, deep care for others, and a sharp wit that surprised those lucky enough to know her well.

Laura was born in Boston at Brigham Hospital and grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, the daughter of Winnifred Wentworth Coffin and Edmund Colgan.

She later moved to Wilbraham during her high school years, where she met Diane Alan, who became her lifelong best friend-a bond that endured both time and distance.

At the age of 26, Laura applied to and was hired by Texas Instruments, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life. About a year and a half later, she met Wayne Hyde. The two began dating, and Laura soon moved to Attleboro. They were married in 1987 and went on to welcome two children, a daughter and a son, who were the center of her world.

Laura was a quiet and caring person, but those who knew her best knew not to mistake that gentleness for passivity. She was quick-witted, deeply sarcastic in the best way, and always ready with a perfectly timed remark. With her constant smile and steady presence, it was rare to find her in a bad mood.

She loved winter activities like skiing and snowmobiling, but was just as happy stretched out in the backyard soaking up the sun whenever she could. An avid baseball and football fan, Laura always knew exactly where the Red Sox stood in the season and followed her teams with loyalty and enthusiasm. She also had a deep love for her dogs, Logan and Thor, who were cherished members of the family for 13 years and brought her daily joy, comfort, and companionship.

Laura is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Hyde; her daughter, Alyse Hyde; her son, Brendan Hyde; her sisters, Amy McClellan and Lydia Shire; her nieces, Jaqueline and Lisa Shire; and her nephews, Thomas Shire and Alex Pineda. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Peter Colgan.

Laura will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her love of family, and the steady warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for a wake on Friday February 6th 2026 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Duffy Poule Funeral and Cremation Services 20 Peck Street Attleboro, MA.
