Laura Teng Lee, age 89, of Oakbrook Terrace, IL, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2026. Preceded in death by her husband, Tien, in 1995. Born in Shanghai, China; eldest child of Jack Teng and Tze Fan Deng.

She immigrated to the U.S. in 1959, proudly worked at the United Nations while supporting her family overseas by sending most of her earnings to them. She was instrumental in securing her father's emigration from China, as well as helping her mother, brothers, and sisters settle in the U.S.

Intelligent, compassionate, and friendly, along with an unending passion for exploring, she was truly a world traveler, having visited over 130 countries. An avid tennis player and fan, she enjoyed art, antiquities, orchestral and theater performances, and movies. She was also devoted to her daily fitness regimen and staying current with the news.

Laura is survived by her son, Everett (Lisa) and son Lawrence, her three beloved grandchildren from Everett (Maia, Ava, and Ethan), and her siblings Lei Teng, Catherine Tsai, Ming Wei, and Ping Yow. She is preceded in death by her brother, Eh Deng.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, with eulogies shared at 5:30 pm, at Matz Mt Prospect Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Rand Road, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. A private burial will occur on a later date at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, IL.
