Laura Dean Martin Morrow, age 76 of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully on the 7th of September, 2025, attended by her husband. She was a wonderful lady, devout Christian, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
Laura was born on August 21st, 1949, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Laura Marie (Farley) Martin and Fred Dennis Martin. She attended school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she met her husband and best friend Joe Morrow. Their marriage lasted 56 years and together they raised four children – April (Jeremy) Elliott of Greenville, SC; Michael (Jennifer) Morrow of Jacksonville, Fl.; Kathy (Jason) Hugg of Columbia, SC; and Karen Morrow Ellington of Columbia. SC.
Laura and Joe were blessed to have seven grandchildren whom she adored – Heather (Andrew) Holder, Rachel (Daniel) Postich, Stephen (Rachael) Elliott, Jacob Tyler Morrow, Hayden Hugg, Hunter Hugg, and Megan Morrow. A great-grandson is forthcoming later this year.
Laura loved children and that led to her receiving an Education Degree. She then became a school teacher and taught many years at Westview Elementary in Spartanburg. She also taught many children’s bible classes at the various congregations she and her family attended over the years. At the time of death, she was a member of the Taylors Church of Christ.
Laura’s impact was profound and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we take comfort in knowing she has gone to be with her Lord and that her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and in the many lives she enriched. Her story is one of unwavering love, enduring faith, and the selfless service that defines a life well-lived.
A memorial service will be held at the Taylors Church of Christ at 3506 Edwards Road in Taylors, SC, on September 13th at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
