Laura Pearson Obituary

Laura "Lala" Jean Pearson, 98, of Cambridge, passed away July 21, 2025, completing a long, happy life.

Laura was born October 18, 1926, in Isanti County, to Rachel and Alphonse Norberg. She was proud to be a part of the Mattson-Norberg family and enjoyed visiting her family home at the fairgrounds. On September 13, 1947, she married Vernon Pearson, with whom she had been with since she was 16. Together they purchased a farmstead from his father and they farmed together for 60 years. When they weren't farming, they were at their cabin in Grand Rapids, MN, fishing and playing cards with their kids and grandkids and making friends they spent summer after summer with.

As a self-proclaimed "active senior," Laura was a member of birthday club, homemakers and Bible study with lifelong friends she had loved for decades. It was important to her to put all of her kids in 4H and as a 4H leader, she won a trip to Washington DC, which she was very proud of and spoke of often. Traveling was one of her favorite things to do and she favorited Las Vegas, South Dakota, Hawaii, Alaska and any place she could going fishing.

She was an avid sports fan and loved to watch football, baseball, golf and rodeo and remembered specific plays and statistics that she enjoyed talking with her visitors about. She was proud to keep a fantasy football team into her early nineties and still often picked a successful team.

Laura will be remembered for her quick wit, her love of practical jokes and her funny sense of humor as well as her deep love for changing the house decor for every holiday and season. She loved to write letters and cards and never forgot a birthday. Her family will cherish her many embroidery, crocheting and quilting gifts that she poured her time into making. She had a full, happy life and will be deeply missed.

Laura was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her children Kenny (Cherie), Cyndee (Steve), Sharon (Holland), Greg and Shari; her grandchildren Shayna (Gary), Michelle (Jeremey), Melissa (Allen), Dan (Nancy), Rachel (Dan), Jen (Brandon), Kyle (Mel), Brett (Randi), Samantha (Tyler), Jessie and Cole; her great-grandchildren Andre, Aaliyah, Logan, Kjirsten, Silas, Lily, Gabe, Neriyah, Cash and Owen; her great-great-grandchild Tatum and her siblings David, Dorothy and Jim.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rachel and Alphonse; her husband Vernon; her daughter Karen; and her siblings LaVerne, Frank, Harry, Tom, Bob and Pat.
