Laura Phillips Obituary

Laura Leiter Phillips

July 27, 1955 ~ March 4, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that the Phillips family announces the passing of Laura Leiter Phillips. Our loving family member passed away on March 4th, 2025. While her passing was too soon, she did pass peacefully in her sleep in her new home in Lexington, KY at the youthful age of 69.

Laura Leiter Phillips, born on July 27th, 1955, lived an extraordinary life filled with adventure, laughter and plenty of love. She was the beloved daughter of William and Marjolet Leiter where she was raised in Salt Lake City, UT. She graduated from Cottonwood High School, Class of 1973. Laura then went on to continue her studies at the University of Utah. In early 2001, she moved to Florida to continue and finish her career of 23 years served with Delta airlines where she later met her husband, William Phillips.

Laura was predeceased by her parents William and Marjolet Leiter, her oldest son Justin Niederhauser and her brother William Leiter. She is survived by her loving husband, William Phillips, her siblings Ann (Dave) Butler, Laura (Derry) Shaul, Stacey (Trudy) Gutierez, Kelly (Marline) Kitchens, Gina (Barry) Ames, her children Corey Niederhauser, Ben (Andrea) Niederhauser, Nicolle (Robert) Stockton, Jennifer (Sam) Vixaysack, 9 Grandkids and 4 Great Grandkids. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends who adored her dearly.

Laura found joy in the piano where she loved to play the tune of "A Time for Us" from Romeo and Juliet. She was very talented at quilting where she belonged to a Quilters Guild in Santa Rosa County, Gulf Breeze, FL. She very much enjoyed sewing, reading, diamond arts and of course, time with her loved ones as family meant everything to Laura. Those who knew Laura will remember her for her infectious smile and overwhelming kindness.

Laura, as she was affectionately known by many, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and her unwavering faith in the LDS Church where she taught Primary School and was on the Relief Society Council. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many family, friends and all whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for her departure, but for the way her life was lived and the profound impact it had on those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The Services to honor the life of Laura Leiter Phillips will be held on March 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4551 South 1200 East in Salt Lake City, UT 84117. A visitation will be held prior to services from 11-11:45 AM at the church. We will then proceed to Elysian Gardens for Funeral Services where she will join her predeceased family as we properly send off our beloved Laura.
