Victor Reed Healy was born on September 11, 1959, and passed away on January 7, 2026.
Victor grew up in Kearns, Utah, alongside his brothers. As a young boy, he enjoyed playing Little League baseball and developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. He especially cherished riding horses at Defa's Dude Ranch in Hanna, Utah—a place he returned to for camping and fishing throughout most of his life with his wife Carol and many close friends. He also spent countless summers at Brownie Lake and Flaming Gorge with his parents, family, and friends.
Hunting was another passion Victor shared with his family. During his younger years, he frequently drew out for deer hunting. He hunted in Settlement Canyon near Tooele in the Oquirrh Mountains and Capitol Reef, Utah, with his family. Those days often began before dawn hiking the mountains until dusk, starting as early as 4:00 a.m.
As a teenager, Victor moved with his family to Taylorsville, Utah. He attended Eisenhower Junior High and Cottonwood High School, later earning his GED.
He learned the value of hard work from his father, who owned a roofing and fencing company. Victor became an excellent roofer, hand-nailing shingles with a roofing hatchet; you could hear his hatchet sing out a rhythm from early morning until late evening. He took great pride in doing quality work built to last 20 to 30 years. Truck driving also ran in the family—He drove dump trucks, worked for Sysco Food Services as both a warehouse worker and driver, and later drove road routes for Consolidated Freight. He spent seven years as an over-the-road technician driver traveling coast to coast. Throughout his life, he continued working in construction and roofing.
Victor had a deep love for animals. He raised rabbits and owned huskies, as well as a large Alaskan Malamute named Buddy. Buddy was an exceptionally intelligent dog whom Victor often talked to—and Buddy would answer back. Victor loved telling stories about Buddy’s strength and agility.
He enjoyed traveling, taking trips to the Dakotas, Oregon, Washington, and California. Victor also loved cooking, especially Italian food, barbecuing, smoking fish, and preparing wild game and birds. He took pride in cooking memorable Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for family and friends.
Victor enjoyed working in the garage, repairing lawn mowers and garden tools, and tending a vegetable garden each year. He took excellent care of the yard and home, especially while helping his mother after his father passed away. He was always willing to help others, often giving friends a place to stay during times of recovery—continuing the tradition of hospitality his parents practiced while he was growing up.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Keller Healy and Mary Jane Mascaro Healy; his brother Thomas Charles Healy; and his niece McKayla Anne Healy Carroll and her husband Benjamin Carroll.
He is survived by his brother Melvin K. Healy Jr. (Drena Kaye Piggott Healy); sister-in-law Lynda Duffin Healy; and his nieces and nephews, Madsen Healy, Jennifer Deeben, Chad Healy (Patti Healy), Michelle Healy Draper (Blake Draper), and Tammy Healy Casper (Steve Casper).
He shared 20 years with Carol Johnson and then married her for 8 years and later divorced.
He passed away after being hospitalized in the ICU at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah, from hypertensive respiratory failure.
