Laura Reckentine

Laura M. Reckentine, 82, Middle Road, Munnsville, passed away on Sunday morning, November 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice.
Mrs. Reckentine was born on August 28, 1943, in Rome, she was the daughter of Otto P. and Iris (DeRouchie) Henry. She attended Rome Free Academy and was a lifelong resident of the area.
On March 16, 1996, she married William E. Reckentine. Mr. Reckentine died April 21, 2003.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Owl Wire and Cable, Canastota, for over thirty years as a parts manager.
Laura was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida, where she faithfully served as both a Deacon and an Elder and took great joy in helping prepare and serve meals for the church's luncheons to feed the homeless. She was an avid quilter who lovingly created many prayer quilts to comfort others. Laura also cherished the simple pleasure of going deer watching with her brother, Dale-special moments that always brought her peace and happiness.
Surviving are four children, Walter (Marion) Stokes of Morrisville, Rodney Stokes of Grapevine, Texas, Patrick Stokes of Syracuse, and Cynthia (Lynn) Morey of Oneida; two brothers, John (Lynda) Henry of Verona and Dale Henry of Munnsville; three sisters, Judy (Robert) Houle of Sherrill, Debbie (Fred) Johnson of Sherrill and Carolee Niles of Verona; father of her children, Walter D. Stokes, Sr. of Bridgeport; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild on the way. She was predeceased by a brother, Otto P. Henry III on May 31, 2025; a sister, Kimberly Coleman on March 24, 2014; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Henry on November 4, 2019.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM from the First Presbyterian Church, 304 Broad Street, Oneida with Pastor Michael Yeoman, officiating. Graveside services will be held 10AM Monday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rome. Friends are invited to call at the church, Saturday 10:00-11:00 AM, prior to the service. Contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of New Hartford, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
