Timothy J. "Ty James" Stolo
Marcy, NY
Timothy J. "Ty James" Stolo, 57, of Marcy passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
He was born on June 24, 1968 in New Hartford, NY a son of the late Anthony Stolo Jr and Colleen Walter DeSalvo. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class of 1986. He entered into the United States Marine Corps where he served his country with honor from 1986 to 1991. Tim was a true patriot who loved his country. After his Military service he continued his education at SUNY Brockport where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree.
He attended and graduated from the Mohawk Valley Police Academy, and has the honor to this day as being the oldest graduate from that program. Upon his graduation from the Police Academy he accepted a position with SUNY as a New York State University Police Officer stationed at SUNY Poly in Marcy where he also served as a Police Firearms Instructor.
Tim was a well-known local musician in Central New York, playing the guitar, harmonica and was the lead singer in his prominent local band called "Trigger Finger" as he describes it as the "Best Honky Tonk, Outlaw, and Country Billy Music Band". He was a true music enthusiast, being a mentor to many young musicians throughout the area. He is remembered by his family as a generous and loving son, father, brother and friend, who cherished all of his relationships. He is also remembered as being very protective of all he loved and cared about.
He is survived by the love of his life, Amy James, his daughter, Rebekah Stolo. He leaves his mother Colleen DeSalvo, two sisters, Tamara Stolo, and Tera Plummer. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves Amy's children, Derek and Brandon James, a new baby granddaughter Sophia James, also Amy's parents, Gary and Mary Rose Werner and his step mother Chris Stolo. He was predeceased by his father, his sister, Laurine Golik and a niece, Riley Lehner.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of caregivers at Upstate Medical Center 9E, especially Josie for the wonderful care and compassion that was given to Tim during his stay there. Also a special thank you to his coworkers at SUNY Poly, his fellow law enforcement officers, and all of his music community friends for all of your prayers and kindness to Tim and his family.
Services will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc. 40 Main St. Whitesboro.
